Dogecoin received a software update that hasn’t been updated for 1.5 years

Here’s what they write about the update: Awesome !!! Can’t wait for all the mods for our community. You are healing the cracks in our foundation and pushing us into the future we have all been waiting for. If you are holding Dogecoin Core, you should update your software. If not, nothing needs to be done …

We have just released a new version of Dogecoin Core, which you can download from Github. This is a minor update that includes important performance improvements. This update is highly recommended for everyone.

This release can be easily installed over an existing 1.14 installation without the need to uninstall, re-index, or re-download. Just shut down a running Dogecoin-QT or dogecoind, complete the installation, and restart the node.

The two most important improvements are:

Increasing sync speed –
Dramatically increases the speed at which a node can unload blocks by removing costly integrity checks that were performed every time a block is sent to another node. When a block is received and during rescanning of the locally stored blockchain, the checks are still performed.
Reducing the default mempool expiration time –
Reduces the default mempool transaction caching time from 336 hours to 24 hours. This default can be changed by using the -mempoolexpiry parameter by individual node operators to the value (expressed in hours) that makes the most sense for the use cases served by the node.

We will be happy to see your thoughts!
